D-U-N-S number to create a developer account at Apple
You can also display your company as the publisher of your app on Apple. To do this, it is necessary to uniquely identify your company using a D-U-N-S number.
To open a developer account for companies that are publishers of the app, there are a few steps to take. We show you how to proceed.
1. Application for the D-U-N-S number
In order to create a Developer Account for companies, you must first apply for a so-called D-U-N-S number. This nine-digit number is required to uniquely identify your company or organization. Please note that your company is recognized as a legal entity (e.g. joint-stock company or limited liability company). Fictitious company names or sole proprietorships are not accepted by Apple. You can apply for this D-U-N-S number free of charge on Bisnode D&B’s website. The following information is required, among other things:
- Name of the legal entity
- Address of your company’s headquarters
- Mailing address
- Contact details of your job
2. Receipt of the D-U-N-S number
Please note that the application for the D-U-N-S number can take up to five working days. It may take up to two more business days for Apple to receive this information from D&B. Once this is done, you can start signing up for the Apple Developer program.
3. Creation of the developer account
Registration for the Developer Program is done on this page. By clicking on Enroll you will be shown a checklist which shows you once again all necessary criteria to enable enrollment. Start Your Enrollment will prompt you to enter your Apple ID and password. You can also create an Apple ID by clicking Create Apple ID if you do not already have one.
4. iTunes Connect and Contracts
Once you have created your Developer Account, all you need to do is accept a few iTunes Connect contracts and enter your tax and banking information into your account.
Ready! Now you have taken all the necessary steps to create a corporate developer account and submit your app to the App Store.
